Who needs a passport?

  • Anyone traveling outside of the United States
  • Even if you are just going to Mexico or Canada, you still need one

Why do I need a passport?

  • Because they won't let you leave the country unless you have one.
  • Also good for if you get yourself into trouble, people know you are an American citizen.

What do I need to get a passport?

  • Proof of citizenship: A certified birth certificate OR an older passport (not a old ripped up one though, because that doesn't count.
  • An application for passport. Can download it at: http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/forms_847.html.
  • Proof of identity: A driver's license, naturalization certificate, previous US passport
  • Two Passport photos. (Some passport application places have places where you can take pictures right there. It should say on the listing.)
  • Social Security number
  • Passport Fee: $97

Where do I get one?

USPO Transfer station 2334 University Ave. W., St Paul (651) 645-7745
USPO Como Station 2286 Como Ave., St Paul (651) 645-7182

When should I get a passport?

*3-4 months before you go overseas.

*Otherwise, don't hesitate to expedite your passport so you get it faster.

  • Be aware, expediting your passport adds another $60 on to the fee. But if you don't have your passport, you can't go overseas at all.
